The second installment of my “5 in 2015” series is all about the brands I loved most this year. The brands that made their way to this list could be because of having new products launched this year, or because their products are constantly the ones I reach out most throughout the year! Heck, you’re already tired of me repeating the same products over and over again!
You’ll see a lot of very familiar brands and “faces” on here! I’m a huge fan of going through other people’s favourites and holy grail products since that’s how I discover and get inspired to try new products! So in the spirit of paying it forward, here are my most loved brands (and products) from 2015!
Dior
Aside from the epic holiday Diorific State of Gold collection and signing Jennifer Lawrence to be the face of their Addict Gloss this year, two products remain the top of my list as the most beloved Dior products I own thus far. Despite the price increase in both the DiorDiorskin Star Foundation ($56, available here) and the Rouge Baume ($42, available here), I am so steadfastly loyal to these two products that I stock up when I can during the Sephora sale. If you haven’t read my previous reviews of either products, do so as it will give you some insight as to how it changed my life!
MAC Cosmetics
I’m sure launching highly coveted, limited edition collections 10x a year is no stranger to MAC and their product development team, but this year, I have fallen in love all over again with their lip products! I’m a long time fan of the various lipstick formulation and various finishes they have available. A lot of the colours have become staple in the industry that even if you say “Ruby Woo” people will know exactly what you’re talking about.
This year, I discovered the lip pencils which is omg. LOVE! It doesn’t dry out the lips, sits comfortably on the lips and is a fantastic alternative to the matte lip colours if you find certain shades to be too drying! Two colours featured in this post are from the Enchanted Lip Set which took me forever to track down! This particular colour set had been sold out at most MAC Cosmetics free standing stores near me and my sister was able to procure one for me!
Bioderma
The Bioderma Micellar water / solution has been a long-time favourite of mine and it wasn’t long before I had to brand out and try out more of their skincare range. I’m really loving the Sensibio range for sensitive skin to up the hydration and nourishing factor for the winter season. Despite not having very sensitive skin, I love taking the extra care of my skin due to the efficacy and compatibility of this range with my skin.
Make Up For Ever
I had a hard time keeping up with Make Up For Ever launches this year – it must be one of the biggest years yet! From reformulating the entire range of eyeshadows, and releasing an updated formulation for the cult-favourite HD Foundation, as well as the HD Cream blushes among many releases and launches from this year.
It’s almost impossible to choose which launches and releases were my favourite but if I could recommend to you the top 3 launches of this year, they would be: 1) Step 1 Face Primers, 2) HD Cream Blush and 3) Pro Bronze Fusion. I am also branching out to try more of their products and recently picked up the Full Cover Concealer ($37, sephora.ca) which is another one of those staples I reach out for all the time.
Benefit Cosmetics
I have a lot of Benefit products in my stash mostly because of my love affair with their incredible value sets which should make anyone who’s value conscious or is a bargain shopper to get to know more of the brand’s best selling products. A recent steal included the Get Your Party On Set ($55, sephora.ca) that includes 4 full-sized products for a mere $13 each! Highly comparable to a lot of budget / drugstore brands. Some of my most reached for products include the Benefit Hoola Bronzer and the Gimme Brow!
What were some of your favourite brands from 2015?
Great picks! My love for MAC and MUFE were both totally rekindled this year! Other faves of mine this year are Too Faced, Clinique, Bobbi Brown, and Odacite ????
I really like MUFE’s products, but their foundations have always been a miss for me. I guess since my skin is way too oily for any of that, I used to like the HD foundation though. I need to test out their primers. My favorite brands from 2015 are probably Lancome, Too Faced and Tarte.
I’ve been all about Make Up For Ever this year! their face products are the bomb.com
