For the next instalment of my annual Best of 20xx round-up, I thought I would feature a few favourites that launched this year. There are of course, many launches from 2016, and some of those were included in the first post. However I feel that it is only fair to share a few more of my favourites from other brands and products that only launched this year.

I have never worn any Elizabeth Arden or Prevage beauty nor skincare range in the past, until I was provided the PrevageCity Smart Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Hydrating Shield ($85, The Bay). This product is best described as a skincare and makeup hybrid skin shield that protects the skin from pollutants, UV rays, and smoke. Similar to the ClarinsMulti-Active skincare range that was also launched this year, the purpose of this product is to be that protective barrier (even more than just a regular sunscreen) that blocks impurities from having the opportunity to settle into your skin. I love that it leaves my skin glowing – you just don’t get that with a regular sunscreen – and it honestly helps my makeup adhere better on the skin as it evens out the skin in the process! My makeup game has only improved since I started using this product!
Though they are not new launches in the industry, they are “new” to me this year! I’ve been addicted to a few Clarins products this year including the Clarins4 Colour Eyeshadow Palette ($43, The Bay) and the ClarinsInstant Light Lip Perfector ($28, sephora.ca). The eyeshadow formula can be worn both wet and dry, depending on whether you prefer a natural or more smokey/intense look, perfect for the holiday season. The pigmentation of the highlighter is very pearlescent when swatched dry, but what it lacks in pigmentations, it makes up in the texture, and a lovely mother-of-pearl-like finish when applied on the lids or the inner corner of your eyes.
As for the ClarinsInstant Light Lip Perfector, the slim, tube packaging, with an angled sponge applicator (similar to the Too Faced Melted liquid lipstick range) applies colour evenly and makes it perfect to slip into your clutch, and leave in your car. The formula is probably one of the best lip balm/gloss hybrid I’ve come across – non-sticky, hydrating, and sits comfortably on the lips. The sheerer colour makes it perfect for layering, either on top of your lipstick, or underneath. Otherwise, wearing it by itself gives a lovely colour payoff as well!
Nudestix is a brand that is quickly becoming my all-time favourite when it comes to lipsticks. I’m just a little bit obsessed with every new launch, and I can safely say that the Lip & Cheek Colour ($28, sephora.ca) have made its way in various workstations, a testament on my love for them. I would have to say that Haven is the currently the colour I’m reaching out for most.
I have recently been introduced to the Nails IncGel Effect Nail Polish ($16, sephora.ca) in the shade Uptown. This lovely dusty rose is the one colour I keep coming back to and for a good reason too! The even, streak-free formula makes this a staple for any season!
The last product I have been obsessed with this year is GuerlainLa Petite Robe Noire Lipstick in #007 Black Perfecto ($37, sephora.ca) is the perfect layering lipstick to take any lip colour you have to a vampy- more intense finish! It can be worn on its own, but I love layering it over a MLBB lip colour to for the Autumn/Winter season!
What new products have you discovered this year?
You’re welcome Jenny! I prefer Clarins skincare over their makeup line (if I had to choose!) but their lip perfector is one of the best products I’ve tried!
OMG those Nudestix Gel Lip & Cheek Colours are my most favorite things ever! I have like 5, haha
Aren’t they the best!? I love the formula and how invisible they feel on the lips!! I need more nude colours in my collection – any suggestions!!?
Ooo what a great post idea! I’ve never tried Clarins makeup before, but I like the shades in that palette. I love nude nails so I definitely need to check out that Nails Inc polish, thank you for sharing this!
