I admit, I have a little bit of a commitment issue. But don’t let that scare you! When it comes to beauty products, if I manage to use something for more than two weeks, it’s there to stay. My gargantuan pile of unnecessary makeup makes that a challenging task and what’s even harder is narrowing down a couple of current favourites to just five. It’s like asking which one of your children is your favourite. Yep. No kidding.
Not surprisingly, I’ve been pulling a number of my oldies but goodies, and surprise surprise! A lot of them are from the drugstore! As much as I love my high-end brands and products, I think I’ve finally gotten to that point where I can decide better which ones are worth splurging and which ones to save on.
A number of products featured here probably wouldn’t surprise you, but I do spy some new items in the mix…
I’ve recently been reaching out more for the Wet n WildSmoke and Melrose Palette ($4.99) which has been said and I do agree, to be a darn good dupe for the Urban Decay Naked3 Palette. I loved the concept of the Naked palette, and #3 was the most appealing to me as it has more warm purple, pink, gold tones which I normally wear, but there are just colours that I wouldn’t reach out for at all. The Wet n Wild quad solved that problem – being a fraction of the price of the Urban Decay version, with equally great colour payoff, and similar colours, I haven’t regretted selling the palette one bit (except, maybe for the occasional colour like “Buff” and “Naked”)
The tool of choice for any month, and any day of the year is the Real TechniquesMiracle Sponge ($6.99) which saved many of my higher end foundations from the dump. I seriously would like to direct you to this, this and this post, where I wrote (on separate occasions) how much of a beloved product this is.
I have two brow products featured here, and that’s not a mistake. For someone who travels quite often, having a compact, travel-friendly brow applicator like the BenefitGimme Brow ($26, available here) saves me plenty of space and ensures my brows are on fleek at all times. For more everyday uses, I have been reaching out for the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade for its long-wear quality and excellent colour match. More than anything, I want to make sure that I get to finish the pomade before it dries out!
It’s no accident that I featured 2 brow products on this post because I am all about having those eyebrows on fleek! The second product that I always have on hand is the AnastasiaDipbrow Pomade ($23, available here) When it first came out, I wasn’t convinced that there was a colour that would match my brow hair colour and look flattering on my skintone. I almost bit the bullet and purchased the shade blond which I thought looked the best out of the colours they had at the time, but I’m glad I waited because Anastasia recently released 2 more colours: medium brown and taupe.
I’m also seriously all about the Too FacedBetter than Sex Mascara ($30, available here) and you can bet that with a name like that, the product sets itself up for a very high standard. I have to say that I have not been disappointed. The formula lengthens and holds the curl so well, and there is no trace of smudging at the end of the day. The metallic pink tube just screams sexy to me, and I could not think of a better name for this product than what it is called now.
The got2bGuardian Angel Flat Iron Hair Spray is a super lightweight drugstore heat protectant if you’re someone who regularly uses flat iron on my hair. When on sale, it literally only costs fractions of what it regularly retails for but this overall has been an amazing product for my hair and keeping it healthy.
Now it’s your turn! What have been your favourite products lately? As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Share with me comment section or through Twitter or Instagram!
Thanks Jen – it’s one of those finds that saved me plenty of money ????
I really want to try the dip brow pomade but I don’t have a counter to swatch shades and I really don’t know which shade to pick. I liked the RT sponge but I personally prefer the BeautyBlender (which also lasted me for much longer than my RT sponge). Xx

I just picked up the Beauty Blender and I can tell the difference!! I definitely know how challenging it can be to pick out colours when there are no counters available! I hope it becomes available in the UK soon!
i dont commit either! I love trying new beauty products so I def know how you feel. The WnW palette looks beautiful! I can see why you like it ????
