As a beauty blogger, I own too many beauty products to properly review them individually. Oftentimes I surprise myself by how little I talk about the products that I use regularly.
I’m going to try to streamline and combine product reviews in order to give each product the love and mention they deserve as well as feature more products in the rotation!
Eyeliner is something I wear on a daily basis but have rarely reviewed or mentioned on the blog. There are a few particular favourites of mine that I never properly gave a shoutout to.
Table could not be displayed.Hopefully by featuring more varieties and products, I have given you some inspiration your upcoming shopping trip!
When it comes to eyeliners, I think my standard for a good eyeliner is quite universal – it should never smudge. I’m not asking for a lot am I? I mean, who wants the panda look at the end of the day?
That it lasts all day or easy to manoeuvre are more of a bonus to me. In this post, I’m going to go through my top picks eyeliners that have passed the test.
1. Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner
This eyeliner became something I reached for every single day as soon as I started using it. I loved it so much that it was the only eyeliner I brought with me on my recent vacation.
The Stila eyeliner features a very fine tip applicator and an excellent formula. I have not come across a black eyeliner formula that is as good as Stila’s. It lasts through hours of kickboxing, and pouring rain, so you can definitely bet this eyeliner will look fresh, even after the end of an 8 hour work day.
There’s no trace of smudge or flakes in the months that I’ve been using the Stila eyeliner, so that is one less thing you have to worry about. Despite the name, the eyeliner is very easy to remove at the end of the day – a little bit of the L’Oreal Micellar Water or the Bioderma Micellar Solution will work its magic.
2. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil
The Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil is quite legendary in the beauty world – when I wanted to purchase my very first high-end eyeliner from Sephora, this was the product that constantly showed up in my research.
The formula makes application super easy with these pencils – the eyeliner glides smoothly with a very even colour pigmentation. No tugging on your sensitive eye area, guaranteed!
The formula lasts a very long time as you would expect from the name, however I find that setting my undereye with powder is absolutely necessity otherwise a bit of smudging is inevitable.
3. Make Up For Ever Artist Liner
Make Up For Ever Artist Liner formulation makes it quite hard sometimes for other products to get back into your regular rotation. The creamy formula, as well as superb pigmentation that doesn’t transfer nor smudge, makes it a step up to the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil.
Despite the pencil format and the creamy texture, I was surprised to find no sign of smudging or flakiness at the end of the day with this range. One thing you should be aware of is that the pencil doesn’t twist back down. So don’t overtwist otherwise you’ll be left crying after a broken $5 chunk on the floor.
4. Inglot AMC Gel Eyeliner in 77
For a budget version of an eyeliner that will last you a very, very long time, Inglot is my go-to brand. This creamy gel formula is comparable to the legendary MAC and Bobbi Brown gel liners, at a fraction of the price.
The color is truly one of the blackest black shades I’ve come across and the texture is very rich, and creamy – almost like melted chocolate. It dries quickly, leaving little room for making mistakes, but once it’s on, it doesn’t smudge.
I tend to find it work best on the top lashes and avoid using this formula on the waterline as it tends to run and smudge.
5. Make Up For Ever Ink Liner
The new eyeliner innovation from Make Up For Ever comes in this calligraphy-pen eyeliner format. The fine felt tip picks up just the right amount of product and is easy to manoeuvre in your hands to achieve that perfect eyeliner look.
The formula is a rich, pigmented black that stays put irrespective of what the nature throws at you. The formula dries quickly, though not as quickly as Inglot’s so you will have time to fix any mistakes.
When I was learning how to created that cat-eye, winged look, I found this calligraphy-pen format to be the easiest to use and control as it gave me cleaner lines, and more precise strokes. Although priced slightly at a premium compared to the Artist Liner, ultimately the choice comes down to preference.
Now it’s your turn! Have you tried any of these eyeliners before? What are your favourite eyeliners and format? As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
