Travelling is a big passion of mine and I recently watched a movie about backpackers in Thailand featuring Leonardo di Caprio, and I have to say, it makes me itch to go all the way to Phuket and explore the beautiful islands there. The movie is called “The Beach” and tells a story about a young backpacker on a quest on finding a legendary, secluded “paradise” island untouched by the tourism industry and populated by adventurous travellers and his time living in the community.
You all know how much I adore to go somewhere a couple of times a year so and I feel that everything I’m going somewhere new, there’s always a new trick I learn along the way. Over the years, I feel like I’ve gotten quite good and efficient at making things as easy as possible when it comes to looking glamorous and have that air of “I just got off a first class flight so of course, I look great!” a la globe-trotting celebs without the hefty price tag of a first class ticket.
While I’m all about comfort, I like to practice that glam-off-the-plane look as often as I can, and here are a few of my favourite bits that I hope will make your life easier!
COLAB Travel-Sized Extreme Volume Dry Shampoo
I reviewed the COLAB Dry Shampoo range by Ruth Crilly (A Model Recommends) some time ago, and she has now released the “Extreme Volume” range which features plumping powder for “instant back-combed volume, texture and lift” Unlike the original version, this isn’t invisible / disappear immediately so ensure that you do a quick check prior to leaving the room to ensure there’s no visible white powder in your roots! The “Extreme Volume” range comes with the same signature scents that made the original very popular, and is also available in a larger size (200ml).
Steripod Toothbrush Sanitizer
I cannot believe it took me this long to find out, but there is a way to travel with a sanitary toothbrush! I used to buy a toothbrush holder from the Dollar Store or Walmart to transport my toothbrushes or pop them into a zip lock bag. However, unless the toothbrush is completely dry, the leftover liquid or bits on your toothbrush can grow bacteria which I don’t even want to think about! The Steripod toothbrush sanitizer looks like a hair clip and is convenient to clip onto any toothebrush before putting it into your toilletries bag. It releases natural germ-killing vapours from a thyme tablet inside the pod and provides up to 3 months protection. Very convenient and I wished I had found out about this sooner!
Toothbrush & Toothpaste
When I have a long-haul flight, a toothbrush and toothpaste are must-haves in my carry-on. There’s just something about stepping off a flight with fresh breath that makes you feel ready to conquer your destination. I love that there’s always plenty of mini Colgate and Crest toothpastes to go around, and I hoard them for times I have to go on vacation!
Hair Removal | Creams or Buffer
When I leave for a trip, I always like to prep by avoiding shaving completely because inevitably, I will get some kind of nicks, and razor burns. I have recently been into using more hair removal creams because they literally take only minutes to work (i.e. less than 7 minutes to get hairs off my legs) and believe it or not, I’ve seen the result last longer than shaving! I used to have to shave every other day, up to 4 times a week to stay stubble-free. With hair removal creams, I only have to do it every 3-4 days! When I am actually on vacation, I’ll bring some wax strips as they take up less space. However, this new hair remover buffer piqued my interest without any knicks or cuts! By rubbing the glove-like microcrystal mitten and can be used on various body parts including the legs, arms and bikini. It needs to be replaced after two uses.
Sunglasses + Noise Cancelling Earphones
Anyone’s who’s ever been on an airplane knows the importance of having noise-cancelling earphones to block out the noise of the engine, and other passengers, allowing you to be in your little bubble. In addition to that, I love to stay as stylish as possible so I try to rock out my favourite Ray Ban Blue Flash Aviators as they look so chic and is always in style!
Dior Capture Totale Dreamskin
This product is my secret to looking glowy, and healthy post long-haul flight without makeup slapped all over my face. The Dior Capture Totale Dreamskin is a serum that works to refines the skin texture, evens out any discoloration, and brings radiance and that natural glow from your skin without a drop of makeup. What I really like about this product aside from its versatility is the fact that it is skincare and makeup in one so I don’t feel guilty about wearing this during a long flight!
Now it’s your turn! What are your favourite beauty items for travelling? As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Share with me comment section or through Twitter or Instagram!
Noise canceling headphones are definitely a must!

Great list, great tips! I’ll be flying to Hawaii soon (aka I’ll be on a LONG-ass flight) and I’m still looking for good earplugs or noise-cancelling headphones and a good sleeping mask.
Steripod sounds great! I use the UV ray sanitize compartment regularly for my Sonicare, but I want to have something else than dipping in Listerine for my conventional brush (I use both). ????
