I admit, I’m someone who is quite ignorant with the whole BB, CC, DD, and the whole-magical-1000-in-1 beauty balms and did my best to keep away from them. Until I found the Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream (which I tried only because it was part of the Sephora Favourites Set from 2013). The RoCMulti-Correxion 5-in-1 BB Cream ($39.00, Available in drugstores across Canada) is a new multi-action BB Cream that boasts a number of unique skincare benefits that’s not common in other BB creams in the market.
ROC is a well-known skincare brand that originated in France (The French really know their skincare!) and is a leading brand when it comes to making science accessible and affordable to consumers. Just like other BB creams that I’ve come across, the RoCMulti-Correxion 5-in-1 BB Cream is a lightweight, light-coverage product that comes across more like a tinted moisturizer. Featuring skincare benefits including ingredients that fight signs of aging, dark spots, uneven/dull skin texture and tones, as well as dryness I was very excited to test out whether this product really does fight signs of dark spots, uneven skin textures/tones as it is not something I see in most BB creams in the market.
The product comes encased in a plastic bottle with a pump that keeps the product sanitary. I currently use the shade “Fair/Light” which I think matches light skintones quite nicely as you can see in the swatches above. When I first pumped the product out, I was quite surprised to see such a strong pink undertone and did not think that it would work on my skintone. I was pleasantly surprised to see that when applied, the pink undertone diffuses to create a brightening/luminous effect on the skin and does make the skin look more even. In terms of coverage, the RoCMulti-Correxion 5-in-1 BB Cream is very sheer, and providing a barely-there coverage. It works well as it is intended to create a sheer canvas that would work well for those who only need or want the tiniest amount of coverage. I personally had to go over the product with a slightly heavier coverage foundation as I did not find the BB cream to be effective when worn alone. However, that doesn’t mean that the RoCMulti-Correxion 5-in-1 BB Cream was a complete fail for me – I actually have been reaching out for it to use as a primer underneath my makeup just because I quite like the luminous finish it creates that makes my fickle foundations look much better!
