Phyto is a brand that I indulge every time I visit Paris. It is a product that manages to make its way to my cart during a quick trip to City Pharma to stock up on some new must-haves. When the temperature dips, it’s not just your skincare that needs to change but any areas prone to being damaged by the cold temps.
As a result, I’ve been adding the PhytoPhytoelixir shampoo and cleansing cream into my routine, finished off with the Phyto Phytokératine Extrême Exceptional Cream for an added shine and smoothness.
I’ve tried a few shampoos from the range including the Phytocitrus Color Protect Radiance Shampoo nor the Phytovolume Volumizing Shampoo. I think the shampoo’s fall on the more average side but having used a number of their treatments, I would recommend them more than the shampoo if you are curious to try.
Phyto Phytoelixir Intense Nutrition Shampoo
The Phytoelixir Intense Nutrition Shampoo ($24, available here) promises nourishment, and protection. It can be very difficult to show off before and after with your hair, as well as showing results just after 1.5 weeks worth of use. Although I don’t have super dehydrated or damaged hair (aside from a bit of split ends here and there), I still hoped to see some results worth sharing.
The Good: I like that the Phytoelixir Intense Nutrition Shampoo doesn’t weigh down my hair nor make it feel greasy. There is a slightly more herbal scent to this shampoo compared to the ones I’ve tried before, though it’s not a strong enough scent to worry about. My hair has always reacted well to macadamia oil, which along with narcissus flower oil are two key ingredients in the formula.
I like that my second, and third hair day seem to look just as good as when it’s freshly washed. That means I don’t have to worry about washing my long hair when I get home from a long day in the office nor do I have to reach out for the dry shampoo as often.
The Bad: The packaging. The lid. The opening hole in the lid is surprisingly large and so I tend to use up a bit more than necessary. Also, keep in mind the luxurious gold bottle can get quite slippery in the shower, so with the larger hole can be a recipe for disaster!
Phyto Phytoelixir Cleansing Care Cream
I would say that the PhytoPhytoelixir Cleansing Care Cream (available here) is my favourite of the two. This concentrated cream is meant to be used in between washes. If you adhere by the rule of washing your hair no more than three times a week, the PhytoPhytoelixir Cleansing Care Cream is what you would use in-between. You can use it on either wet or dry hair, depending whether you want to “spot-clean” your hair or use it as a nourishing and cleansing mask.
If you want to use this in between shampooing and as an express treatment, use it on wet hair after warming up the cream on your hands. Leave in for 2-3 minutes before rinsing. If you are using this for a deep cleanse, use it on dry hair, and leave for 2-5 minutes. I find it best to distribute treatment products a couple of inches below the roots to prevent product buildup there.
The biggest takeaway from the PhytoPhytoelixir Cleansing Care Cream is the soft and shiny hair that I can’t seem to stop flipping. I like to finish off my hair routine with a couple of pumps of the Phytokératine Extrême Exceptional Cream ($48, available here). I use this product all year round – it helps combat the frizz from when it’s really warm outside, and it prevents hair damage from excessive heat from my hair tools.
Now it’s over to you! Have you tried Phyto’s haircare range like the Phyto Phytoelixir shampoo or treatment cream?
