Before the Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara became one of my top high-end mascaras, I’ve had the opportunity to play around with the Too FacedLash Injection Mascara ($28, available here) which claimed to “build lush ‘tubes’ around each lash for increased volume, length, and major drama.” which for me, basically means that each swipe of the mascara coats your lashes with the lots of heavy polymers to create drama and volume. Not that it’s bad thing – most mascara’s do that anyways. However, I definitely have mixed feelings about this one in particular.
At first, I thought I had the bad luck of ending up with a bad batch because the formula is incredibly thick and goopy. Upon seeing the 3/5-star reviews on the Sephora website, I knew that I wasn’t the only one who had issues with this mascara. Personally, I feel that the brush head picks up too much product. As a result, I always seem to end up with mascara on my eyelids and under the eye and these smudges can be hard to remove when you already have a full makeup face on. The formula is quite forgiving and takes some time to dry, but therein lies the problem; since it takes so long to dry, if you’re applying more than coat, you’ll end up clumping your lashes together. Since the formula is quite thick, I find it quite hard to remove at the end of the day, requiring a couple of cotton pads, and quite the effort to remove the mascara. The mascara’s saving grace is really the colour; It’s so black, and the thicker formula does make your lashes stand out with drama and volume. For photo-ops or if you struggle with mascara not really showing up on you, this might be something you like. However, by the same token, given the intensity of the result, this is probably not the mascara I would reach out for work or school.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the mascara for me. I don’t think it’s a complete write-off though because if you’re someone who likes that kind of intensity on your lashes, you might find yourself liking this mascara. The formula does feel a heavy on the lashes, but that’s more of personal preference, and this won’t be a mascara for those who likes a more subtle look.
Now it’s your turn! Have you tried the Too Faced Lash Injection Mascara? As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Share with me comment section or through Twitter or Instagram!
I love big lashes but this mascara doesn’t sound great. The brush looks pretty big too. I prefer smaller brushes because they make it easier to coat all my lashes.
It looks good though I don’t like heavy formulations when it comes to mascaras. it gives me lash fall.
OMG some day im probably going to cave and just buy this darn BTS mascara already lol. Everyone and their grandmother seems to love it. Once im down to a decent number of mascaras I shall try this out for myself! What do you find most magical about it ?:)
