Kat Von D’s makeup range has been taking the beauty world by storm. Even though I wasn’t really into it at first – the aesthetics and bold colours were a little too much for me – I quickly realized that there are plenty even for a picky makeup user can discover! Since her high coverage, high-pigmentation products (whether for the face, or eyes) have won beauty fans of all ages, I thought I should give something from her line a go!
My first foray into the world of Kat Von D makeup line is from one of her newest launches – the Kat von DLock It Concealer Creme ($34, available here). Instead of purchasing the full-sized as I still have a lot of my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer to finish, I snagged a mini sample when I made an order at Sephora recently.
From a packaging perspective, nothing wildly different than ones you would have purchased from Urban Decay or NARS. I think the lip-gloss style, pointed applicator is the differing factor and that makes me want to come back to it again and again.
The precision tip is not revolutionary, but there’s something about having an applicator that does the job so you don’t have to dirty up a brush. The coverage itself is medium to high, especially for those pesky, obnoxious spots that seriously don’t have to be that bright. In terms of covering the less angry spots, you won’t need as much and you get far more mileage out of it.
The shade I have is Light 11 Neutral it has a pinky-neutral undertone, slightly peachy to help even out the discoloration. It blends well under my foundation as I always wear foundation over my concealer.
I don’t consider this a revolutionary product by any means – I think it’s a good concealer, but not one where I would drop everything and buy. The creamy texture makes it a dream to work with while still maintaining that coverage. I like that it sits well on or under my foundation and it doesn’t crease too much when worn and set under the eye area.
Have you tried the new Kat Von D Lock It Concealer Creme?
Oh sorry to hear that! I know what you mean about how important samples are! I found this particular shade to be too peachy for me so it’s not one I would apply around my face too much – just on specific spots!
I wish I had the sample size before buying the full. It didn’t work well on my skin type (oily) for some reason even though I feel like most her products are catered towards oily skin. I liked the coverage it provided but it caked up on me ????
