When Sephora held their annual “sale on sale” at the end of 2014, I immediately placed – not just one – but a couple of orders. Aside from the deeply discounted holiday sets/value sets, you also get a variety of products from brands such as NARS, Tarte, Too Faced, Laura Mercier products being added, even on the very last day. When you combine the discounted price as well as the 20% off sale, well a major Sephora haul unfolded…
I took advantage of this sale to stock up on some new items that I didn’t want to pay full price for before. Despite the many variety and too-good-to-be-true prices, this Sephora haul is relatively controlled for someone who normally hoards beauty products…
I bought the BuxomDolly’s High Roller Face Set ($36, sephora.ca) because I was very impressed by the quality and texture of the blushes and eyeshadows. Paying $36 was a no-brainer given this full-face collection has everything you need for a full-face of makeup, with Vegas inspired names and packaging. I also bought a blush by Tarte, called Buff ($31, sephora.ca) I was surprised to see this in the sale section, though I am unsure whether I plan on keeping it because it is so glittery! I had hoped it would be a great dupe for Tarte Exposed blush but alas, the glitter is too much of a no-no!
With a discounted price and an added 20% off, I didn’t hesitate to purchase the Benefit3 Scoops of Sexy ($30, sephora.ca) which feature 3 full-sized lip balms (inspired by their very popular tints) as well as the corresponding mini tints. I have given the balms a go and I’m quite enthralled by it. I also bought the StilaIn the Light palette ($24, sephora.ca) given that it is a neutral palette which consists of colours similar to those from the Urban Decay Naked 1 palette. I can never resist a good neutral palette, and at only $24 plus the discount, I didn’t hesitate to grab one of these. The last item I purchased has been on my radar for a while – the Sephora FavouritesSummerstash Set ($36, sephora.ca) Even though we are long past summer, I love the product variety included in the set – there are few in here that I have wanted for some time, and a couple that I would love to have a mini for (NARS Laguna) to bring when I’m traveling.
Overall I think it was quite a good, very limited haul. I am keeping my spending on beauty products to a limit of $50 a month, and though I overspent in December, I think I should be set to start 2015 without any major purchases!
Now it’s your turn! What did you purchase from the Sale on Sale haul? Did I miss anything that you managed to snag? As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Share with me comment section or through Twitter or Instagram!
Awww! Hopefully next time around you’ll be able to catch it!
Ooh, nice picks! I’ve been stalking In the Light for ages- it’s really a beaut! xo
It quite is right? I was so surprised to see it on sale!!
You scored some great deals! It’s a shame that Buff is shimmery, but I would’ve also picked it up because TARTE ON SALEEEE!!!
Thank you and yes I agree! Tarte on sale deserves to be hauled home asap!
Ahhh this post just makes me wish we had a Sephora here in the UK!
Ohh! I hear you there =] I often wish the Canadian prices can be just a little bit lower!
GURL, YOU DO NOT NEED MORE MAKEUP!!! I checked out the sale on sale items, but just wasn’t feeling the selection. $24 30% off + for the Stila palette IS a really good bargain though!!
LOL I know, I know! It was those discounts I tell you!!
Sweet deal! I am a HUGE fan of neutral palettes, so that palette would’ve definitely tempted me. When this sale came around I didn’t have the budget for it that month, so I avoided going onto Sephora’s website like the plague — didn’t want to buckle under temptation ????
That was a clever idea! I definitely didn’t do that and ended up breaking my budget for the month! I think I’ve been quite good in January so that made up for it!
You got some great products! I didn’t buy anything from the sale on sale this year but I thought about getting the Summerstash set. How do you like it so far?
Thanks! It was such a dilemma to stay under budget – I always try to snap up the holiday sets/value sets as they are some of my favourite ways to test out multiple things at once!
Ahh I so wanted to get that benefit set, it was sold out by the time I got to it!
