I never thought there would be a day when I would say this, but I admit that I am a coffee addict. So much so that if I am deprived of my daily cuppa, I’ll sleep through meetings and look as if I’d let myself go – haggard and utterly demotivated in life.
A couple of months back, I wrote a review of the heavenly Jealous Body Scrub ($17.95, available here), a coffee based scrub with coconut oil made by a Vancouver-based company. Its innovative way of using coffee (rather than sugar) as the base of the scrub is making all sorts of buzz in the blogging world especially with their seriously drool-worthy and wanderlust-inducing Instagram account. The company has extended the range of their products to now include more combinations to please senses. If you have been waiting for coffee combinations that will make you want to stay in the shower longer, you’re in luck!
I always believe the fewer the ingredients, the better. Even better than that, imagine if you can actually understand and recognize all the ingredients at the back. Just like the original, the new range features equally recognizable ingredients list.
Upon opening the package, you are treated to the awakening, and delicious scent of coffee – I like my cuppa, but sometimes I’d wander into a Starbucks without purchasing anything because the scent is enough to wake me up. I can’t be the only one right? Anyways, I digress. Get your skin wet – I highly recommend using this after you finish with your body wash as I like to have the coffee smell linger – and get scrubbin’! You only need a handful to cover your entire body (the recommended amount is 2-3 scoops), rub in circular motion, and leave on for 5-10 minutes before rinsing off. Yes, this is a product that requires time to apply and be effective as well as to clean up afterwards, so do leave that extra time.
Each ingredient plays a vital role in making this scrub the treat that it is:
- The combination of brown sugar and sea salt helps chafe off dead cells skin
- The almond oil helps to moisturize and relieve any dryness
- The vitamins (A, E, D) and minerals helps to repair and moisturize your skin
- The combination of coffee grounds and almond oil will overall, reduce the appearance of cellulite, age spots, and acne
I love not only using this on the body, but on the face as well. Most of the time, when I exfoliate using a Clarisonic or a facial scrub, I will always break out. Not the case with this – the gentle ingredients guarantee for a no-breakout experience.
Okay, so I’ve convinced you how fantastic this scrub is, and I did promise I’d share with you what new combinations have been introduced. I hope you’re excited because I almost fell out of my chair reading these ingredients (with each addressing different types of skin concerns), and was just dying to get my hands on one of these once I am out of the ones I have.
- Coffee & Coconut (Original, teal blue packaging) – helps to heal scars and hydrates
- Coffee & Almond (Pink packaging) – relieves irritated skin and improves skin complexion
- Grapeseed & Macadamia (Purple packaging) – balances oil production and tighten the skin
- Cocoa & almond (Coral packaging) – balances oil production and repaids skin
- Almond & Macadamia (Orange packaging) – helps irritated skin and complexion
Each of these combination, especially my favourite coffee and coconut, sounds so edible and good enough to eat. But as warned on the packaging, as fantastic as it is, the scrub is not meant to be consumed 😉
If you want to support a local company, whose quirky marketing material and to satisfy your indulgent cravings, this product is worth checking out! Especially since Jealous Body Scrub offers free shipping to Canada/USA, and $3.50 worldwide – not a bad price to pay for smooth skin!
