The only product that I have been loyal to for years (since I was in 8th grade in fact; oh those glorious, tween days!) happen to be a hair product, and that is the affordable Got2BSmooth Operator Lustre Lotion ($8, available at most drugstores). When I younger I used to spend my time flipping through the Seventeen magazine at the library, and before Bumble & Bumble or Oribe, this was the it hair product of the time.
The bottle stands out so much from it’s unique shape, the dainty charm (I don’t think they have them on the newer bottles, but if you have bought the bottles before, you know what I’m talking about), and colour on the packaging. Got2BSmooth Operator Lustre Lotion is honestly the only one product that keeps my hair healthy despite consistent ironing, blow-drying and colouring. I have tried multiple serums, and treatments from higher end brands including Aveda, L’Oreal Professionel, and Phyto but only saw modest changes. With the Got2BSmooth Operator Lustre Lotion, I can see and feel my hair being healthier. I can’t exactly say that this product will cure every hair problem out there, but for an everyday treatment without spending $$$, this is my go-to.
The Got2BSmooth Operator Lustre Lotion work exactly as its name implies – it literally is a lotion for your hair that doesn’t weigh the hair down, or make it greasy (which is my biggest pet-peeve when it comes to hair treatment). I like to apply this hair lotion after I iron or blow dry my hair to add a little bit of moisture back into the hair as well as keeping the frizz at bay. The lotion won’t make your hair super sleek or glossy, but it will make it easier to work with and makes your styling last all day. After trialling multiple other leave-in conditioners, and hair treatment (including super pricey Phyto ones), I don’t think I’ll stray from this ever again.
I’ll be honest, the scent is absolutely divine and I hope they never change the formula, because as it is, this product is absolute perfection. When Shoppers Drug Mart has these on sale for $4, I literally buy 6-7 bottles of these to last the year.
After all that amazing raves, there must be at least one bad thing about it right? Yes and no; In terms of formulation, there is absolutely nothing to dislike. However, the packaging can be a huge pain though – remember the Urban Decay Primer Potion old “genie” style tube? Just like that dreaded packaging that you have to depot, this bottle presents the exact same challenge – I have to depot it when the pump doesn’t dispense any more product. A little bit more work but I think they have the non-pump version of this product available if you’re averse to depoting products.
Got2BSmooth Operator Lustre Lotion is a fantastic everyday treatment without spending $$$. It is readily accessible, and available at most drugstores without the hefty price tag. I love how it makes your hair easier to work with and more importantly, helps your styling last all day. Plus, with a great scent and a formula that doesn’t weigh the hair down, or make it greasy, this has become a staple for me.
