I am quite a bit of an insomniac, stressed out person, and a perpetual snacker which means I tend to have some breakouts and dark circles to hide from the world. However, I can’t always be bothered with a full-face of makeup on days that I only have to run a few errands. So when it comes to the barely there makeup kind of days, I reach out for one of my trusted high-coverage concealer, slap on a bit of powder, and be done with it.
I am quite fickle when it comes to my favourite concealers, there are few that have made the list for being incredibly reliable, especially for those really bad skin days or super dark under-eye circles. I can be quite fussy when it comes to concealers – it shouldn’t crease or fade throughout the day, but still provide good coverage that covers even the most stubborn spots. Here are a few of my favourites that have made the cut.
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer NC25 ($22, available here)
This is a popular concealer, often recommended by bloggers and makeup artists alike as being the “it” concealer when it comes to full-coverage that lasts all day. I admit that I bought this based on those rave reviews, and for once, I was very happy with the decision! The concealer does cover even the most stubborn of spots, and the slightly runny texture makes a little goes a long way and very easy to blend. The packaging is also one of my favourites – the pump keeps the product sanitary, and the concealer is virtually leak-proof, particularly when you’re traveling! I like to keep two shades on hand, a lighter one to apply under the eye area as a brightener (NW20) and a skin-coloured one to cover any dark/blemish spots.
What makes this a particular favourite of mine is because it doesn’t crease the way the Studio Finish concealer does.
IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Concealer ($26, available here)
This concealer is geared towards application under the eye area, specifically targeting those dark under eye circles. This concealer is infused with anti-ageing and nourishing ingredients to hydrate and keep the sensitive area under your eye as healthy as possible. It’s sort of like makeup and skincare in one. I quite like this because of the brightening effect and how easily it covers minor under-eye circles. I find this concealer needs to be built up a little bit more if you have a really bad case of dark circles.
Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer ($48, available here)
This is the priciest high coverage concealer of the bunch featured here. This little pot of magic is somewhat legendary because it can be used as both a concealer and foundation, depending on your preference. The coverage is unbelievable – the littlest amount (I mean, a pea-sized amount for the entire face) does go a long way. Since this pot takes quite a bit of time to finish, I like to mix a bit of this with some of my lighter coverage foundations to make add more coverage, and so far I’ve been loving the result!
Inglot AMC Concealer ($18, available here)
The budget option comes from one of my favourite brands, Inglot, which offers a variety of concealers in their product range. My favourite of their concealer remains to be the AMC concealer featured here. The concealer does provide a good amount of coverage, but tends to crease a little bit when not properly set. Given its affordability and good coverage, I can be a bit more forgiving when it comes to the creasing.
Now it’s your turn! Have you tried any of these high-coverage concealers? Which one are your favourites? As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Share with me comment section or through Twitter or Instagram!
Great to hear that Rachel!
I have the IT cosmetics bye bye undereye concealer, and it’s a little too thick for me, but I do like how well it covers!
I love that it doesn’t crease under the eye either!
I haven’t tried any of these concealers. But the concealer that I consider ‘heavy coverage’ in my makeup collection would be the NARS Radiant creamy concealer. It’s pretty wonderful ????
I’ve only heard good things about it and now I am incredibly curious! I am trying to hold back though, mostly because of the price!
At the moment I’m using the NARS radiant creamy concealer (of course) but I’d love to try the MAC one! It’s surprisingly hard finding a drugstore concealer that covers my blemishes well and stays put.
I agree! I find the Maybelline Fit Me one quite good but does need the extra dose of help on really bad skin days!
Haven’t tried any of these concealers, BUT I LOVE ME SOME FULL COVERAGE CONCEALERS. I think you’re one of the few that actually like the Pro Longwear pump, haha! Everyone seems to complain that it dispenses too much product. And UGH, been wanting to try Kevyn Aucoin’s stuff for AGGGEES.
It does dispense too much, but after some practice, it gets easier!! Promise lol ????
Nice picks! I’ve used the ProLongwear concealer and it really works quite well! So tempted by the Kevin Aucoin as well- sounds so versatile ????
Thank you! The Kevyn Aucoin costed a pretty penny, but has been such a lifesaver on days that I can’t be bothered!
I’ve been looking to invest in a new concealer so this is really helpful!
