When I read that MAC was releasing a laundromat-inspired collection, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Like always, MAC always comes out with a way to part me from my hard-earned money – the swirly sunset-inspired design just drew me in. The variety of products including multiple blushes and highlight powder almost made me weep because I was seriously contemplating breaking my no-buy to get these.
The worst part was that I was at the JFK airport when I was perusing the collection only to realize how much I wanted the highlight powders – I would have to pay in USD which would mean 1.2x the cost in CAD. Lucky me, they were sold out of the colours I wanted at the time, so I came home quite happily with my wallet intact.
This collection comes with a vast array of colours and formulas. More than anything, I would purchases these products just to get my hands on these “Collectors’” and “Limited edition” packaging. What I did end up with from this collection are two MACTechnakohl Liners in Colour Matters and Practice Makes Perfect ($21, available here). Temptalia gave these products horrid reviews (C+) but I think that was quite unfair. These colours are quite unique, but not neon bright which can be difficult to wear for some skintones. What I like about both colours, is that despite the bright that exudes I-so-cannot-wear-this kind of attitude, I like that it can be work as a subtle highlight and/or pastel-coloured liner that was so popular a while back. I know I’m a huge fan of the “Colour Matters” shade as a different kind of colour to wear, and against my NC25 skintone, it’s a charming kind of pop and I can’t stop trying to find a mirror to look at my eye look.
I haven’t been able to stop using the nail polish Washeteria ($15.50, available here), a creamy blue-green shade that pops against my skintone and applies opaquely using just one coat. This isn’t a colour I would normally reach out for as it feels more appropriate for the end of Summer and beginning of fall. Given the top notch quality though, I wasn’t going to complain.
Now it’s your turn! What do you think of the MAC Wash & Dry collection? As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Share with me comment section or through Twitter or Instagram!
Oh yes these colors are so unique! I bet they would make some awesome eye looks, although I’d probably never wear these normally haha
