It’s been a while since my last weekly “What’s happening in my life” update on the blog. Let me tell you, it hasn’t been quiet on this end! If you’ve been following me on Instagram or Twitter, you’ll know a bit of what I’ve been up to, but if not here are a couple of recaps of what’s been taking place chez Stephanie lately.
1. Visiting Cape Town, South Africa
I’m sure you’ve seen a number of pictures and a variety of Cape Town-related hashtag, but yes! I did it! I actually went traveling to Cape Town alone in mid-May. To be honest, I had all sorts of anxiety before I left on the trip. As much as I wanted to visit Cape Town, and go back to Africa, safety and health were a concern to me. I hadn’t recovered from feeling a bit like a wreck, and worked until 1:30AM the morning of despite having a 7am flight. However, once I realized I was going to Cape Town, Cape Town! I was so excited that I forgot to be tired. I only had 2 regrets about my trip: #1) I didn’t stay long enough, and #2) I didn’t see any baboons!
Mermaid status achieved!
I booked this trip completely on a whim because I saw a really good fare for it. Well, let’s just say it wasn’t a decision I regretted – it made me wish I booked two trips with it!
I also hiked the Table Mountain, one of the 7 Wonders of the Nature via the Platteklip Gorge route, a scenic route that gave us views of the Robben Island, and Signal Hill.
On the way, I visited New York, Manchester and Dubai, so all in all, it was a fabulous trip! I’m excited to do a post recapping my experience (which as you can probably tell from the pictures, were quite epic!) and I’m dying to go back to Cape Town!
The sad part is that I’m now officially out of vacation days for the remainder of 2015!
2. Becel Ride For Heart
On May 31, I joined my coworkers to partake in the Becel Ride for Heart via the Corporate Challenge, where you get to ride between 25-75km on the Gardiner Expressway and DVP. Although the weather was awful to say the least (freezing weather, rain, and slippery road), I was so glad I reached my goal of riding 50km on my first time! I hadn’t slept well the night before, and when I checked the weather on the morning of, I was going to call it for 25km and make my way back. However, I promised my friend that I’d ride with her and after reaching the 25km point, we managed to keep going and reach York Mills (the half-way point) before heading back!
3. Website Re-Design
As you’ve noticed by now, the website has a whole new design which I am loving! What do you guys think? I’ve been obsessed with it and visiting it on a daily basis (which cannot be healthy!) There are still some tweaks that I need to make, but I’m quite happy with where it’s at right now! What do you think of the new look?
4. Re-Watching Suits, Game of Thrones
Typically, I am the worst person ever when it comes to watching series. I cannot keep up or when I do get caught up, I pine for upcoming episodes when the season ends. It’s just unhealthy. I stopped watching Suits after season 2, mainly because I thought the love story took away from the quality of the show, but am now rewatching it. Meghan Markle and Sarah Rafferty are total eye candies and the reason I watch the show. They are so badass!
As for Game of Thrones, I’m a bit in a limbo here – I missed the last couple of episodes, especially that one with Sansa Stark. Now I’m sure you know which scene I’m referring to, but I won’t spoil it as I only saw the GIFs on Tumblr and not the actual show yet. Should I watch it? I feel so torn about it!
Now it’s your turn! What have you been up to lately?? As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Share with me comment section or through Twitter or Instagram!
