Make Up For Ever Pro Bronze Fusion.

One of Make Up For Ever’s recent releases include the new Make Up For EverPro Bronze Fusion ($42, available here), a range of six bronzers with that gel-to-powder formula that Make Up For Ever has become famous for. The range is available in six colours to compliment a wide range of skintone, and there are two finishes to suit your preference: matte (M) and iridescent (I). Each pair of matte and iridescent shade compliments a skintone: light, medium and dark. For easy reference, try the following:

• Light skintone: 15I Soft Iridescent Amber & 10M Natural Matte Honey
• Medium skintone: 25I Soft Iridescent Cinnamon & 20M Natural Matte Sand
• Dark skintone: 35I Soft Iridescent Caramel & 30M Natural Matte Sienna

As you can tell, there’s a pattern that’s immediately discernible from the list above – the higher the number, the darker the colour is and if it ends in an odd number, it’s an iridescent finish. I have one from each finish, 25I Soft Iridescent Cinnamon and 20M Natural Matte Sand, both colours are ideal for medium skintone to review and share with you.

Due to its wavy pattern and firmer texture, a firm kabuki brush is best used for application. You’ll not pick up much colour with a fluffy brush – trust me, I tried it once and thought mine was a bad batch. Make Up For Ever released the #136 Pro Bronze Kabuki Brush ($38, available here) along with the brush, so it is the recommended tool of application. However, similarly shaped kabuki brush or a dense face brush of similar shape will do the job just fine. I’ve used the Real TechniquesExpert Face Brush that was originally meant for foundation application with great results.

The product is encased in a copper-coloured, pans with a chrome finish with a full-sized mirror inside. The chrome packaging drives me crazy a little – it is a magnet for fingerprints. Aside from that minor inconvenience, I quite like the sheerer payoff and the lack of powdery finish that often accompanies powder bronzers. I just want to point out that this product isn’t really meant for contouring – it’s going to take a lot of swipes and application to get that kind of colour payoff. I see this product as something you can apply all over the face to give that natural-looking, healthy perma-tan look.
