I’ve been most curious about trying out Marc Jacobs products especially after my great experience with the Marc JacobsHighliner Gel Eye Crayon ($31, available here). However, just like anyone else out there with an overwhelming collection that needs to be finished first, I haven’t been able to purchase anything from his beauty collection.
During my trip to New York, I wanted to purchase a designer cardholder wallet that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. A Coach one would have costed me USD$50 and I wasn’t keen to spend that kind of money on a tiny wallet that carries only 3-4 cards at a time. I wasn’t too keen about paying the ridiculous exchange rate anyhow.
I was so thrilled when I saw the Marc JacobsThe Nude(ist) Kit ($35, available here) appears to be the perfect solution – providing me with the fashion accessory I had been wanting and two new beauty mini’s to play around with!
It seems so silly that my favourite product in the entire range is the pochette, but taking out the mirror, I’ve turned this into my little cardholder wallet that can easily fit 4-5 cards easily and comfortably. Plus the nude pochette looks expensive (without actually costing that price tag!) and takes up very little space as it is meant to do! The “Marc Jacobs” embossed on the front of the pochette makes it look like something from Saks.
The collection includes a sample-size of the new Marc JacobsNude Sheer Lip Gel ($38 for 1.0g, available here) and the Marc JacobsHighliner Gel Eye Colour in Blackquer ($31 for 0.37g, available here). I’ve had a great experience with the highliner, though I have yet to try this colour (Blackquer).
I have yet to try any Marc Jacobs Beauty lip products and the new sheer lip product has so far been a great introduction to the brand! Despite the name, I actually find this lip colour to have more pigment and comes off very close to the Make Up For EverRouge Artist Lipstick in N4 Pink Beige. The lip product stays on really well and the dusty-rose colour looks incredibly flattering on many skintones. The formula stays on the lip and doesn’t feel too heavy. It sits comfortably and feels mostly like a tinted lip balm.
Overall, this kit has been a great introduction to the brand. As much as I like the products, the pochette was the best bit of all the products included. For the price ($35) and costing so much less than the full-size of both products makes it a great addition to anyone looking to try new Marc Jacobs beauty products.
Now it’s your turn! Have you tried any Marc Jacobs Beauty products? What do you think I should purchase and try out next? As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Share with me comment section or through Twitter or Instagram!
I am tempted by the eyeshadow palettes – it seems that they’re always coming out with a new one every once in a while!!
I was looking at this set yesterday, GOOD idea on using it as a card holder. Ok this is going onto my Sephora loves list now. I was thinking..I don’t need a mirror but GLAD to know this can fit cards! ????
Thanks Whitney!! Stock up during the upcoming VIB Rouge sale ????
Hah, how smart! The minis look really pretty and the pouch looks great.
Thanks Melissa!! I love the cardholder – so chic and convenient!!
I had my eyes set on this gorgeous set for a while but of course it has been out of stock on the Sephora.ca for ages and don’t think it is coming back any time soon. I have the Marc Jacobs Genius Gel foundation and has been my holy grail for a few years. So tempted to try their new re”marc”able foundation but I want to go in the stores to swatch my shade first. Also have tried their Kiss Pop(lip crayon) and like it a lot as well.
