Long-time readers know that haircare is a scarce subject on this blog. I really have a bias for makeup, and travel so the focus is typically around the latest and newest products to hit the market, or my most reached for product of the moment. Today I thought I would share some of my favourite haircare products (Woohoo!!) considering that I have massively thick and more often than not, very hard to tame hair. What’s really exciting though is the fact that these products are from the drugstore (Woohoo x2!!) so your wallet is super safe!
I rarely invest in haircare so my go-to places are typically Walmart, Winners (TJ Max/Marshalls) or the drugstore. Despite rarely straying from trusted favourites, I have introduced a couple of new items to give you some inspiration for your next shopping trip!
I am such a huge fan of the got2b Smooth Operator Lustre Lotion that I didn’t realize I wrote a review for it twice on the blog! Aside from being affordable (I stock up like mad during any Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Boutique sale when they are on a bargain price of $3.99), I have an entire shelf dedicated to this product because even my backups have backups.
One of my favourite hair brands, the Tangle Teezer has come out with the Tangle Teezer Blow Styling Hairbrush ($32-35, available here) and it has changed my life. It is a a full paddle brush with plastic bristles (similar to the original Tangle Teezer) that is designed to get draw out the water from wet hair. It’s a totally revolutionary tool and I was so excited to see it in my goodie bag from a recent event. The high-low, alternating innovative teeth allows for free-flow tension so there’s no pulling and tugging to blow dry your hair quickly. Using this by itself won’t do much good, but if you use it as you blow dry your hair – it’s seriously like magic. I’m like, “Where did the water go!?” You really have to try it to believe it! Apparently this is available in a full-paddle and a half-paddle size!
The Remington Diamond Shine Hair Dryer was a bargain hair dryer I picked up a couple of years ago from Target during a visit to Buffalo. I love that this has lasted me ages despite costing less than $30. It’s lasted me at least 1.5 years and I love the quality of this hair dryer. Not only does it come with many settings, including cold or hot air and the standard 3 levels of air flow, it is also infused with minerals that prevent your hair from being damaged during the drying process. The best part is that it dries my thick mane in 5-10 minutes without frying it. Unheard of!
What are some of your haircare favourites of the moment?
