I’m an avid collector of Benefit’s value sets, so it’s no surprise that I’ve come across the Benefit Stay Don’t Stray Primer ($31, available here) at least once or twice. Aside from the super quirky name (that aptly describes my relationship with it), there was nothing that would indicate to me how much I would end up falling for it.
Encased in a tube with a lipgloss-like applicator, there are two shades available although I’ve only used the Light/Medium one. I assume the availability of the darker shade is for the benefit of darker-skinned users? Correct me if I’m wrong though! The Stay Don’t Stray Primer is similar in consistency to the famous Too Faced Shadow Insurance, though the texture of the Stay Don’t Stray Primer lends itself to only requiring the smallest, and thinnest layer on the eyelid. I’ve always found myself using much less of the Stay Don’t Stray Primer than other eyeshadow primers. I’ve tried applying the “usual” amount of this primer, only to realize it was too much (so I use the rest of it as an “eyebrow primer”). To give you a context as to how little you really need per application, the little sample pictured above lasted me a month of daily use! No joke. I kept thinking to myself, “When is this thing going to run out?”
I have been using this religiously since I got the full-size from another Benefit set. It was because the full size of this product was offered in the Pretty Parfait ($46, available here) set that I actually went ahead and bought the entire set which goes to show you how attached I’ve become to it.
Like most high-end eyeshadow primers, the Benefit Stay Don’t Stray Primer definitely delivers. What distinguishes this than other primers to me is the value. Although priced a little more at a premium, I don’t see myself running out of it quickly as evidenced by how long the small sample lasted for me. I can definitely see this lasting for months – if not an entire year!
Now it’s your turn! Have you tried the Benefit Stay Don’t Stray Primer? What’s your favourite eyeshadow primer? As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Share with me comment section or through Twitter or Instagram!
